About the Artist: Paul Westlake. Songwriter.
My song writing career started about six years ago, when after finding myself out of work through an industrial injury, I had time on my hands, so I decided to take up playing the guitar, an instrument that I have longed to be able to play, but just never seemed to find the time. A cousin of mine pointed me in the right direction and with a little tutoring to start me off I found I was soon able to strum along to some of my favourite tunes.
It was not long after this that the lyrics started to flow and I began to write my own songs, and what a buzz that gave me, don't get me wrong I loved playing other peoples songs but there's nothing like playing and singing a song which is totally your own creation., the results of which is my first album “Beautiful Blue Eyes”.
I decided to send a copy of this album to some record labels, to see if I could get some feed back on my work. To my suprise i was sign by Chromium records, who unfortunately went bust, leaving myself and i believe many other artists out of pocket, i guess there is a lesson to be learnt here somewhere! however i have moved on, and have now started my own family run records label, Copper Island Records. initially the site has been set up to promote my songs, however i am hopeing to expand in time to help promote other artist/songwriters. I recently did a live show for BBC Radio Wales, which was great, and should go to air later this year, i shall let you all know as soon as i hear a date.
